There is about a 5% chance you have a rare hard drive which incurs an additional conditional fee, explained in detail below.

"Transfer Hard Drive" Rates:

Once your data is recovered it will immediately be moved to a new hard drive called the "transfer hard drive." We have a wide assortment of transfer hard drives available for purchase, including "portable" and "desktop" external hard drives (and USB flash drives for very small recoveries):

You can also supply us with a transfer hard drive when you drop off or mail in your bad hard drive.

Shipping Rates:

Return shipping usually costs between $9-$19 depending on the size of your hard drives. Note: shipping "to us" will be cheaper if you buy a transfer hard drive from us, since your package will weigh less without a transfer hard drive. Also remember that "portable" external hard drives are cheaper to ship than regular size external hard drives. Shipping to and from North Hollywood should cost less than $10 unless you are sending multiple large drives.

Conditional Rates:

There are three rare types of hard drives that require significantly more time to recover, and therefore incur an additional fee if the recovery is successful:

• 1) If your hard drive is larger than 2TB (less than 2% of all hard drives we receive), there is an extra $100 fee if successfully recovered. *Most data recovery companies charge around $1 per GB!
  

• 2) If you have an encrypted hard drive (less than 5% of all hard drives we receive), for example: Western Digital external hard drive with "Smartware" or Mac with FileVault protection, there is an extra $100 fee if successfully recovered. This is because any encrypted hard drive is much more difficult and time consuming to recovery. Hard drives with "Smartware" will be encrypted even if you never set a password (it's a hardware, sector-level, encryption). *Most data recovery companies charge $500-$1000 extra for encryption!
  

• 3) If your 2.5" USB hard drive has a USB port built into the PCB (less than 5% of the hard drives we receive), for example: Western Digital My Passport USB 3 hard drives, there is an extra $100 fee if successfully recovered. This is due to the complexity of recovering data from a hard drive without a SATA or IDE interface. *Most data recovery companies charge $300-800 extra for this.

Hard Drive Removal Rates:

If your hard drive is still inside your laptop (iBook, PowerBook, MacBook Pro, and some PC laptops) or your iMac, there is a non-refundable $75 fee for removing it. We can only perform data recovery with direct access to the bare hard drive.

RAID Data Recovery Rates:

RAID drives, arrays, servers, and enclosures are charged per hard drive. For example, a successful 2-drive RAID recovery is $600, a 5-drive RAID 5 server recovery is $1500, and of course, no charge if your data can't be recovered. *Most data recovery companies start at $1200+ for a 2-drive RAID.

Hard Drive Cover Opened Rate:

If the cover of your hard drive has been opened (exposing the platters inside), there is a $50 non-refundable up-front payment required. If the label of the hard drive has been removed, we will assume the cover has also been opened. If recovery is successful, the $50 is put towards the recovery fee. This fee is due to the decreased chance of success and the increased diagnosis time (as opening the cover will create other problems which complicate the diagnosis).

Storage Fee:

After your data recovery is completed (successfully or not), you'll have 14 days to pay for the recovery (or just for shipping back if recovery was not successful). After 14 days, there is a $10 per day storage fee to retain your hard drives and accessories. Due to our limited storage capacity, after 60 days of non-payment, your drive(s) and accessories become the property of 300 Dollar Data Recovery and will be recycled and/or destroyed.
